New Mini Doc on the historic Beard And Lady Inn Live!
As some of you may know, I spent the month of April as "Artist In Residence" at the historic Beard and Lady Inn in the tiny (100 people)...
Christine and her husband John are also friends of ours from the music scene in Long Beach. We only recently discovered Christine had written and self published her first novel when she posted on Facebook it had been selected for "Good Reads". After taking a gander at it I was so happy to discover a well written and captivating novel about a half Roma girl, Desdemona, finding her strength through a life changing move to Southern California!
In 2007, after eight years of slugging it out, WAXAPPLES were recording what would be their final album "Glitter & Grime" as the record industry was undergoing a major digital revolution. So Close, So Far (shot and directed by Michael Abbott) follows Brian and Jamie and the band as they come to terms with the highs and lows of being a family and a band in modern times.
Brian and I met Leah while we were playing in WAXAPPLES. She became a die hard fan who came to every show and we soon became friends. Over the years we watched her grow and go through the birth of her daughter the death of her husband. Rather than letting that tragic event ruin her, she took the experience and turned it into a determination to live her life to the fullest, which for her meant going for her life long dream of being a stand up comedian.
Born and raised in Long Beach, California, A.J. has been a staple of the SoCal music scene with his band Das Klown. Despite having his hand amputated (and re-attached many years ago) A.J. decided to face his fears and turn his attention to art. His creativity and unpretentious approach to painting have earned him admiration and respect among the local community of musicians and artists and we are proud to feature him as our November Artist!
We are Brian and Jamie Coakley. We met at the 1994 MTV Spring Break in San Diego. I was a candy and cigarette girl and Brian's band the Cadillac Tramps were playing the Riki Rachtman beer tent. It was love at first sight and we have been making music and art together ever since.
Nadine Records Media is the natural evolution of our love for storytelling and our commitment to living creative lives. -XO Brian and Jamie
